Nintendo has released a new trailer for Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition, the upcoming remaster of the 2015 Wii U game. The trailer shows off several of its graphical improvements in this new version of the classic JRPG ahead of its release on Switch in March.

Set in the year 2054, Xenoblade Chronicles X tells the story of an intergalactic war between alien races that has left humanity teetering on the edge of extinction. Survivors have fled to the stars, but after their spaceship crashlands on the hostile world of Mira, they have to survive and thrive in this new frontier if the human species hopes to bounce back from annihilation.

Xenoblade fans have waited quite a while for the game to arrive on Switch, and this new edition will also feature several quality-of-life updates, new story content that will let you dive deeper into the world of New Los Angeles, and several multiplayer modes to experience. If you’re looking to buy the game ahead of its March 20 launch, you can grab a physical copy for $60. There are also some neat preorder bonuses, as purchasing the game before April 6 will unlock the Exploration Support Pack. This comes with the following extras:

  • 100,000 credits
  • Advanced Iron Knife melee weapon
  • Advanced Storm Assault Rifle ranged weapon
  • Full set of Survival Armor series
  • Six weapon augments
  • Five armor augments

Back in 2015, GameSpot’s Xenoblade Chronicles X review called it an impressive open-world game with an intimidating level of scale.

“By offering a steady stream of challenges that take you to fantastic places and put you into fights at the feet of giants, X has no problem enticing you back for more,” Peter Brown wrote. “It’s a feat of large-scale game design that would be impressive on any console or computer, let alone on the modestly-powered Wii U, and getting the chance to explore and fight in a world as impressive as this one is worth enduring a few annoyances along the way.”
